The Path to Masculine Greatness

There seems to be a natural progression behind the lives of many of the great men in history. And I believe this path can be followed by any man should he choose to understand and embrace it, which will lead to a life worthy of recognition long after his time has passed.

For his contribution will multiply through time.

Most men tend to float through life, doing what they're told. After graduation from high school, they follow the "Cut Path".

They go to college or university.

After graduation, they get a decent, reliable job.

Then they get married and start a family.

They work to support their family, leaving them little time to spend with their family.

The kids come and go, and eventually they retire...

... only to die!

Now, there's absolutely nothing wrong with college, a family, working a job. But, at the expense of a dream, this kind of mediocrity is a sin against the Soul... for there's no real passion or enthusiasm in this path.

It's a slavery path. They become a slave to their grades. A slave to their jobs. A slave to their wife and family. They wait for retirement to reclaim that freedom. But what do they find? Death.

Looking for happiness in anything other than yourself and your dream will lead you to death.

But men who achieve greatness follow a different path. And even though each of their path's are different, the phases of transformation underneath it are generally the same.

Like going to school, getting a job, and getting married to start a family, a great man's life also has phases. But few people can recognize these phases because they are stages in the development of his mind -- not external landmarks you can actively see as he passes through them.

What are these phases? The foundation is a personal dream. With that dream, like a seed, his greatness begins to grow.

Many times, that dream initially revolves around a woman.

The only difference between a dream and reality is that there are certain obstacles that obstruct a man from living his dream. As he goes to work at improving himself in ways that will allow him to translate that dream into reality, he discovers what will make him great in the process.

I'm not sure a man finds greatness so much as it finds him. But for it to find him, he has to search for ways to translate his dream.

By learning how to overcome his greatest weaknesses -- that which interferes with his personal dream -- he discovers his calling. For it is in finding the solution that he develops undeterred passion in his pursuits.

Plus the discoveries he makes in overcoming his difficulties gives him a certain awareness and understanding that, once he has gained the benefits for himself, he can use to serve others.

He takes that knowledge and builds a structure around it in such a way that it can benefit as many people as possible. He shares those benefits with the world, often times being met with unexpected wealth.

Familiarize yourself with the phases of discovering masculine greatness if you wish to follow a freedom path in life, the "Uncut Path"...

Phase 1: The Great Dissatisfaction

Can there be a desire where there is nothing absent? Most people hate not being satisfied. They complain about it. What these men don't understand is that it is the great dissatisfaction in their lives that are there to lead them toward their destiny, should they be up to the challenge. Many times, that dissatisfaction is inspired by not getting the girl.

Phase 2: The Great Exploration

With all dissatisfaction, there is a way to satisfy it. Making a choice to learn not only what's causing the dissatisfaction but how to attract that satisfaction, thus eliminating the dissatisfaction in the process, begins the great exploration. The degree to which you are dissatisfied is the exact degree to which you will be inspired, enthusiastic, and persistent in seeking the answers and solutions.

Phase 3: The Great Discovery

Where there is an exploration and persistence enough, there is a discovery. And if the exploration was great because the dissatisfaction was great, so must be the discovery. The great discovery is an ah-ha moment where one's destiny begins to truly reveal itself as the personal dream materializes in reality. And because the process behind the discovery was so important to you, you're passionate about it.

Phase 4: The Great Contribution

The greatest men are servants -- not to be mistaken for slaves. Servants serve others. Slaves try to serve themselves. With such love for their discoveries, great men have the passion and fire to translate those discoveries into serving others. Because they love what they now do -- which was planted with the seeds of dissatisfaction -- it's not work to them. And because they'd do it whether they were paid or not, they are paid ten time over.

The Path

This, is the path to masculine greatness! Boycott the "Cut Path", in spite of any criticism that crosses your path for it, follow the "Uncut Path" and not only will greatness find you while impacting the lives of many, you will live a rich life full of adventure.

That's what it means to be a man.

I want to leave you today with what seemed to have been one of FM Alexander's favorite quotes from Shakespeare...

What a piece of work is a man! How noble in reason! How infinite in faculties! In form and moving, how express and admirable! In action how like an angel! In apprehension, how like a god! The beauty of the world! The paragon of animals!
